Alan Shumak - Dojo Cho/Head Instructor

Alan started training in Aikido in 1991 with Karasawa Sensei in Scarborough. He is currently 4th Dan in Yoshinkan Aikido through the IYAF (International Yoshinkan Aikido Federation). In 2003 he took over the daily management of the dojo, with help from the senior student body. He has been honoured to train under Karasawa Sensei for many years. Through Karasawa's connections, he has trained under many visiting Sensei's from around the world during this time. They include Inoue, Chida, Takeno, Ando, Mustard, Ohlman and Mills Sensei's.

Karasawa Sensei - Technical Advisor

Mits Karasawa started began his Aikido training in 1964 at Meijigakuin University in Tokyo. Under the strict training of  top professional instructors, including Shioda Sensei, he served as vice-captain of the university club as well as the principle member of the demonstration team. Upon graduating, he received a 3rd degree black belt.

After continuing his training at Yoshinkan Headquarters, he came to Canada in 1970 to promote Aikido in the Toronto Area. As one of the original contributor's of Aikido in Canada, he has taught countless classes and clinics as well as providing many demonstrations.

Sensei is currently a 7th Dan black belt, and oversees the training at Toronto Aikido Centre, participating in classes when possible.
